ET Badzho POS — point-of-sale system for a shop
One program for the whole shop: checkout, stock, deliveries, invoices and reports. Scan, sell, and the receipt prints on the fiscal device. It runs on the computer in the shop — no internet needed, no monthly fee.
The problem
The shop ran in pieces. The fiscal register on its own. Stock in a notebook and a spreadsheet. The daily figures worked out by hand after closing. One sale was entered twice: once at the till, once for stock. That is why the numbers never matched — one count on paper, another on the shelf. A new product was typed in by hand, field by field. And when a customer brought goods back, the cashier had to remember which reason to pick. On top of that came the euro: the price has to be visible in lev as well, without the cashier doing sums in front of a waiting queue.
The solution
We built one program that does all of it. AT THE TILL. The cashier scans an item and it goes on the receipt. No barcode? Search by name. Quantity changes with one key. Items sold by weight come straight from the scale — no copying numbers by hand. Payment by cash, card, bank transfer or a mix. The receipt prints on the fiscal device by itself. If the customer wants an invoice, it is issued from the same sale. RETURNS. Refunds are issued by the program with the correct statutory reason — operator error, return or exchange, tax base reduction. The cashier picks from a list, not from memory. THE PRODUCTS. Every item has a barcode, a short name for the receipt, a category, a VAT group, a selling and a delivery price, a unit and a minimum quantity. Old prices are kept, so you can see when they changed and what they were. AN UNKNOWN BARCODE. Scan something the shop does not have yet — the program looks it up in three outside catalogues and fills in the name and details by itself. With no internet, it searches its own list and the till carries on as usual. DELIVERIES. Enter the supplier's invoice and the lines. The quantities go into stock immediately — nothing is carried over by hand. STOCK AND REPORTS. You see what you have and what is running out. A report for any period takes one keystroke: turnover, sales by day, deliveries. The dashboard shows the day's turnover, the number of receipts, goods returned and a chart of the last two weeks. ACCESS AND DATA. The cashier sees their own work, the owner sees everything. All data stays on the computer in the shop. A copy of the whole database is made with one click — onto a USB stick or a network folder. THE SMALL THINGS YOU FEEL EVERY DAY. Every amount is shown in euro and in lev at the official rate. Large buttons and a key for every frequent action. Light and dark themes. Everything in Bulgarian.
The result
The cashier scans and sells. Nothing is written twice and nothing is worked out by hand. Stock matches the shelf because it keeps itself. The daily report takes one keystroke instead of half an hour of gathering notes. A new product goes in with a single scan. The amount reads in euro and in lev at every step. The internet can go down — the till keeps working, because the data is right there. There is no monthly fee that can stop the work if a payment is missed. And there is no outside server holding the shop's takings. The program runs every day in the shop. On every change to it, 195 automated checks are run — through the fiscal device, the refunds and the report arithmetic. Because a till either works, or the shop stops.
